LEDUC, ALBERTA • CANADA • SINCE 2005
WE BUILD THE TOOLS THAT STOP GAS, SO CREWS DON’T HAVE TO WORK IN IT.
For most of the last century, repairing a leaking service tee meant digging it up, pulling the cap, and working in blowing gas. The standard way to stop the flow was to hammer a wooden dowel or a steel pin through the tee into the main.
Everyone in the trade knew it was dangerous. For a long time, it was simply how the job was done.

THE PROBLEM
THE OLD FIX WAS BANNED. THE NEW ONE WAS EXPENSIVE.
In the early 2000s, utilities started banning the pin-and-dowel method. The alternative was line stoppers and bypasses, with bigger excavations, more equipment and far higher cost per service.
Crews needed a way to stop gas at the tee itself, inside a standard excavation, with a manufactured and certified tool.
OUR FOUNDER
BUILT BY A 40-YEAR GAS MAN
Ivan Mazur spent 40 years at an Alberta gas utility, working in construction, operations, measurement, cathodic protection, engineering, and project planning.
When the 2004 code changes outlawed blowing-gas repairs and homemade tools, he built a better option. His utility’s engineers certified the first tool in July 2005, and Mazco Products & Services was incorporated the same year. That tool became the Safe-T-Stopper®.
Ivan has since retired. The company he started is now run by people who spent years selling, building and improving his tools alongside him.
2004
First working tool, built in response to new Canadian safety codes.
2005
Engineer-certified by an Alberta utility. Mazco incorporated. Machining moves to a dedicated CNC shop.
2008
First US demonstration
2014
PLCS becomes master distributor for the entire US.
2026
CR Wall becomes the sole distributor for all of Canada.

SHAPED BY PEOPLE WHO USE IT
ONE TOOL BECAME A SYSTEM, ONE CREW AT A TIME
Since 2005, almost every improvement to the Safe-T-Stopper has started with feedback from a field crew. Crews ran into a tee the tool couldn’t handle, so we built an adapter.
SAFE-T-STOPPER

The tool is a gas-free method for renewing or abandoning outdated gas service tees without an internal stopping mechanism..
VALVE CHANGER

Gas-Free removal and replacement of most 1/2″ – 2″ rectangular port or ball meter valves on steel and PE risers.
MADE IN ALBERTA. SOLD AND SUPPORTED ACROSS NORTH AMERICA
Mazco runs as three divisions: manufacturing in Leduc, sales in Canada through C.R. Wall & Co., and sales in the U.S. through PLCS. Each is run by people who know their side of the business and the utilities they serve.
manufacturing

Every Mazco tool is machined, assembled and tested in Leduc, Alberta. Russell Christianson runs the operation and makes sure every order ships complete and correct, whether it’s a full tool package or one replacement rubber.
canadian sales

C.R. Wall & Co., based in Cambridge, Ontario, has represented Mazco across Canada since 2011. Their team works directly with utilities, gas co-ops and contractors: demonstrating tools on site, recommending the right adapters for a utility’s tee styles, quoting, and following through on delivery, repair parts and service. If you’re a Canadian utility, C.R. Wall is your first call.
us sales

PLCS, based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, has been Mazco’s U.S. partner since 2009 and master distributor for the whole country since 2014. The U.S. side is led by Joe Tete, a former PSE&G pipeline mechanic. Many of the adapters in the line started with a U.S. utility’s problem fitting that PLCS brought back to Leduc.

What it means for your crews
NO BLOWING GAS
No supplied air, no bottled-air costs and far less exposure.
SMALLER HOLES
Excavate only the working area, with no line stoppers or bypasses
NO BLOWING GAS
Limits gas odors, saving the cost of false leak calls.
LOWER EMISSIONS
No uncontrolled gas is released on every repair.
FAST PAYBACK
Many utilities recover the cost of the tool after one or two jobs.
APPROVE ONCE
A tool your engineering department approves once and crews use for years.
